What does it mean to use an objective technique for a report on gun control?

I'm trying to figure out how to come up with a thorough review of methodology regarding objective reports. What does it mean to use an objective technique for a report on gun control?
objective - present the arguments of both sides.

And present the facts and figures that both sides use

Determine whether their figures and facts are correct or what would be a more accurate source for facts and figures on that...write about it...

If you REALLY want to appear objective - show how facts and figures or arguments from both sides are misleading in some way....i.e. the NRA says this but there is a statistic that shows that this may not be the case....however anti-gun activists say this...but facts show that this may actually not be the real case....

Also - there are two things you can do: Compare - and contrast

Compare is to hold up two arguments and discuss their differences. Contrast is to simply put them side by side so people can see the difference - without really discussing them.

Avoid the fallacy of an argument that if you follow the middle ground then the middle ground is correct....that is a misnomer. People try to use that in politics - like - if I do something 1/2 republican and 1/2 democrat then it will be right.....avoid that line of thinking (fallacy) in your paper if you come up with a conclusion....your conclusion can be a summary of observations gained from your research....but you have to ACKNOWLEDGE ALL RELEVANT SIDES in your paper to be objective....that shows you did your homework and are knowledgeable....you can also let your audience come up with their own conclusion and just present your research....

I would say that it would be like you are looking in, from the outside. No personal bias, reporting the facts as they are, not as you ';feel'; they are, but as they are according to the facts.

If is were subjective, you could add how you feel. I think this is right.
