If you miss your birth control pill couple of times a month how common is it to get pregnant?

you still have to have sex while you ovulating and that is only a couple of days a month right? If you miss your birth control pill couple of times a month how common is it to get pregnant?
I can't say how common it is, but it is definitely possible. You're supposed to take your pill everyday around the same time of day to maintain the level of hormones in your body. What the pills do is stop ovulation from happening, or they can make the lining of the uterus ';reject'; (in a sense....it's not the best word for it) a fertilized egg so that it won't implant and cause a pregnancy. Not maintaining that constant level of hormones decreases the effectiveness of the pill, and increases your chances of getting pregnant.

As far as having sex during ovulation, sometimes it's hard for a woman to know exactly when she's ovulating. Most women ovulate around the 14th day of their cycle, but some don't. So, unless you've paid attention to your cervical mucus (it gets a little thicker around ovulation) or other things, you probably don't know exactly when you're ovulating. There are also meters you can buy to help you track when you are ovulating to let you know when you are most fertile.

Lastly, if you think you might be pregnant, please take a test. The sooner you know, the easier it is to talk about what options you might have. Also, if you have trouble taking the pill, and you're not pregnant, you should talk to your doctor about maybe changing your method. There are a couple that work just like the pill but last for longer periods of time. The patch, Ortho Evra, you only have to change once a week, instead of taking a pill everyday. There's also a ring, NuvaRing, that you change once every 3 or 4 weeks. Those are just a couple of options for you.

If you read the instructions that come with it, it will tell you that in fine print....if you want a longer birth control method, try and IUD like Marena, all you have to do is get it inserted, it lasts up to 5 years, and you never have to worry about it...if you decide you want kids later down the road all you do is get It removed, and start well you know...
you can get pregnant by missing a few pills. take extra precautions by using condoms or spermicidal jellys or foams. also, even birth control is not 100%, usually it is but i have known of women who have been on birth control and gotten pregnant. check with your gyn if you think you maybe pregnant.
